The Road Not Taken

A good friend of mine always talked about a wonderful poem she’d fall in love for such a long period of time. And still on. Actually, I did read it so long time ago and forgot about it. So, I surfed the net and found it! Here it is…

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Robert Frost

Well, she is absolutely right! Great poem! So meaningful, flowing the real juice of knowledge and wisdom in its words. Frost talked about choice in life. How he’d make his decision to take less traveled road to continue is journey. Whether he happy with the subsequences of it, depends on our interpretation!

It’s all about importance of making decisions and stand by it. In life, with the endless array of opportunities and challenges, we are forced to make decisions in order to move on. Between easier path of life and the hard one, which would be our choice? The two paths may represent two choices in very crucial situations which will effect or altered our future. Once taken, there is no turning back.

I’ve been there. For me, either doing what I’m expected to do or achieve my dreams and pursuing what I believe in. To lead easy life. Being someone in the crowd whom followed the flow. Or to struggle along the way! No bed of roses, either!

At the end, I’d make mine and it has made all the differences…

I’m so touch by this poem. It’s made me stand back and reevaluate my life. Makes me wondering about so many ‘what if..’! Yes, you can spend all your life wondering what could have been if you did this or that differently. But that is a little banal after some time, isn't it?

2009

New year. New blog. New hope and dreams. New motivation, energy & spirit. Hope my life would be better, happier, prosperer and full of meaning. My aim is to take it a step at a time while living it to its fullest!

Amin.
